I contacted Kingsford Charcoal company and they verified that wheat straw was
used as a binder in their briquets. It is next to impossible to keep all the
grain out of straw, and gluten could be deposited on food being cooked on a
grill fired with this charcoal. Since our old grill was due for replacement
anyway, and was hopelessly contaminated with all the stuff we used to cook, we
just bought a gas grill and have NEVER cooked anything gluten-containing on it.
