Thanks to all those who shared information on the new DVD's on Celiac. You are all great! Our support group will be very happy to add the new information to our Library.

To the people who asked why I was looking for these when there is so much info out there on the internet, and why spend money on something that is free. There are several reasons.
1. I have dial up (high speed is not available where I live unless I get satellite which I feel is too expensive right now).
2. There is also a lot of misinformation on the internet.
3. I head up a support group, and believe it not over half our members do not have internet, and we would like the lastest information available to all our members.
3. Our members like to hear the story straight from the horses mouth. Researchers, Dieticians, Doctors, Gluten-Free Bakers, etc.

I was very glad to read your posting on the listserve. Yes, there is a new and outstanding DVD on celiac disease that was just released last year and is beginning to be distributed nationally.
It is entitled "Generation Gluten-Free" and was premiered in New York last year in October at a special event of the Westchester Celiac Sprue Support Group in New York. The premiere was part of a special event to honor Pat MacGregor, the founder of the Gluten-FreeRestaurant Awareness Program, which is now under GIG. It is starting to be seen nationally and recently became required viewing to educate students, while taking the gluten-free courses at the Culinary Institute of America.
"Generation Gluten-Free" is 42 minutes, and was filmed during August of 2005. It shares interviews with, among many others, Dr. Peter Green, Director of the Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University, George and Ceil Chookazian of Foods By George, Beth Hillson of The Gluten-Free Pantry, Pat MacGregor, founder of GFRAP, Sue Goldstein, founder of the Westchester Celiac Sprue Support Group and Joseph Pace, owner and chef of Risotteria in NYC, one of the very first participating GFRAP restaurants in the country.

The people in this film, through extraordinary committment and sacrifice, built and transformed the celiac community. For some, their motivation came during the most difficult time in their lives, when either they or someone they love was diagnosed with celiac disease at a time when support groups were non existent, gluten-free food companies were a dream for some, a medical center devoted to caring for patients with celiac disease was yet to be gorn and a gluten-free menu in a restaurant was unimaginable.

If you would like a copy of 'Generation Gluten-Free, which is in DVD format, please let me know, and I will be
delighted to send it to you. There is no charge for the film. If you know of any other group leaders or organizations that would be interested in getting a copy to show at a meeting, feel free to share this information and pass along my email address.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Laura Leon
