Hello Everyone,
Here is the summary of responses to my question last week about what
people order in restaurants.

Outback Steakhouse
--prime rib with vegetables and a salad with no cheese or
croutons-lemon slices for the salad; this respondent had problems with
the french fries

--steak and baked potatoes are usually safe

    --fillet steak with sweet potato

--prime rib with steamed vegetables and a baked potato

--plain steak-no seasonings; baked regular or sweet potato with
butter and/or sugar-cinnamon; green salad with no croutons

    --steak without spices-you must stress that it be a plain steak;
baked potato, salad with no croutons and a wedge of lemon for a salad
dressing as they are not gf; no dessert

--fish, steak, and chicken can all be prepared without spices or
butter; salads without croutons-skip the cheese; vegetables are grilled
but can be made plain

Lone Star Steakhouse
--steak kabab, salad with ranch dressing (no croutons), french fries
and sauteed mushrooms

--San Antonio sirloin (plain steak)-no seasonings, a baked regular
or sweet potato with butter and/or sugar-cinnamon, green salad with no
croutons

Cracker Barrel
--Ham Steak Dinner with baked potato

--grits, western omelet with bacon (don't know about the ham), and
PLAIN hash brown potatoes
(don't get the fried potatoes as they are deep fried in the same oil as
their batter-fried menu items)

--all the vegetables are ok that are not breaded; mashed potatoes
are real potatoes, but ask about the butter in them; the cooked apples
are just sugar and cinnamon and they are great
Ruby Tuesday's

--their hamburgers are 100% meat (double checked that they only
cooked the burgers in one location on the grill); substituted a baked
potato with butter for the fries; and ate the burger with the
accompanying onion, tomato, and lettuce
Long John Silver's

--corn, baked potato, green beans, coleslaw, side and garden salads
and all salad dressings (fries and batter are NOT gf)
Appleby's

--smothered chicken (grilled chicken with onions, green peppers, and
cheese)

--house steak with steamed vegetables and a baked potato
There were a couple of suggestions:

--when in doubt about the menu, one respondent orders a salad and
asks for a few lemon wedges instead of a dressing

--another respondent carries her own salad dressing with her in a
small Nalgene bottle that is available at a camping store--they never
leak

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to respond.
