>> Fanconi Syndrome. It has no cure and is of unknown origin. It is known to
target the endoctrine system ...
diabetes mellitus seems to be common in celiacs. This disease is common also to
Fanconi Syndrome.

Although the IDDM is related, there is no mention of Fanconi Syndrome, although
Fanconi's has been noted to occur with other diseases. Thyroid metabolism can
be linked to celiac, and does affect muscle metabolism, but would affect all
muscles rather equally.

According to the Merck Manual, 16th ed., There is what is called Polyglandular
Deficiency Syndromes. These are associated with specific HLA types. There are
two identified syndromes, Type 1 and Type II, which is linked to the HLA B8,
DW3, DR3 and DR4 halotypes.

In PDS Type II, Celiac disease is listed (with uncertain frequency) in
conjunction with Vitiligo (5-50% incidence rate), Diabetes mellitus, type 1 (52%
incidence), Pernicious anemia (less than 1%), Addison's disease (100%), and
Thyroid disease (usually lymphocytic thyroiditis, also known as Hashimotos, but
also Graves - with a 69% incidence). Celiac disease is not seen in Type I
Polygladular Deficiency Syndromes.

So, all of the above diseases ARE linked to Celiac disease, however, the
combination in which they occur will vary, excepting Addison's which will occur
in all cases, noting that Addison's can develop at a later date. Not sure why
they list vitiligo as separate, because it supposedly can be a manifestation of
Addison's or thyroid problems.
