Just wanted to advise people that the autoimmune types of thyroid
disorders, which are the ones most commonly correlated with celiac
disease, are *not* the result of iodine deficiency and some doctors
feel that extra iodine can actually be contraindicated in this case.
There are also anecdoctal reports of people in this category feeling
worse with iodine supplements.

I think the best source of info on the net for all things thyroid is
Mary Shoman's site at The Mining Company:

http://thyroid.miningco.com/mbody.htm?COB=home&PID=2750

If you go there and search on "iodine", you'll find helpful
information on the pros and cons.
