A possible explanation is that they are referring to a *processed*
form (i.e. canned, etc.). Sugar beets as the whole unprocessed
vegetable and legumes (peas, beans, lima beans) as unprocessed whole
vegetables do NOT, in and of themselves) contain any gluten. It is
possible that coatings or sprays, etc are used to treat even the whole
vegetable may contain gluten (analogous to the wax coating used on
apples which can contain gluten).

Spontaneous nosebleeds are one of the classic signs of severe
malnutrition. You must have had *serious* malabsorption.

Ask Twinlabs to send you their booklet listing all ingredients. I have
used their products for years without any problems (and I am VERY
sensitive).
