Well, well, well ... On the very day that I attempting to gussy up
my first travel article for Living Without ... a little nugget like
this is hard to pass up ...

I first called the 1-800-252-7522 number, and was told by
a very friendly person that GF is not an option ... vegetarian,
low-fat, low-cholesterol, or fruit plate, but not GF ...
The fruit plate has about 6 fruits, cottage cheese,
salad, dressing, roll, and desert.

I then spoke with Carl Baber, director of food services
at Alaska Air ... He confirmed that Alaska Air does not
offer GF meals, and has no plans to offer GF meals ...
said that they get a "tremendous number of special
requests and alaska air simply cannot accommodate
them all" ... <sigh>

Somewhat defensively, he said that the caterers that they
employ will do whatever alaska air demands ... so it is
not the caterers' fault <I did try to give him an out> ...
but he said there simply are "not enough" calls coming
in to warrant requesting GF meals.

Which I personally find kinda lame. The corporate
offices for Alaska Air are at 206-433-3200 ...
Or, email thoughts to: [log in to unmask] ...
Maybe we can change Carl's mind. <wicked, plotting grin> ...
