I can't believe this - I've been trying to find out what is wrong with me
for 10 years (the last three aggressively). How to make this brief - I'll
try. 10 years ago my hair began thinning and was very fatigued. I went to
an MD/Nutritionist who happened to be Indian (India) and after doing blood
tests she told me I must have had some liver problems at some time in my
life. I recalled being hospitilized when I myself lived in India at age 4
(I didn't recall why). Other doctors (western) said there was nothing wrong
with my liver. She wanted me to go on a supplemental diet which was too
expensive and I didn't follow through. Eventually I began having pain in my
lower right abdomen it got progressively worse over the years and I began
having occasional attacks of explosive diarrhea, chills, vomiting, numbness
and feeling like I was going to die. The ER had no answers for me. I
pursued gynecological causes, had mri's cat scans and numerous blood tests
that showed nothing but slightly elevated white cells, monocytes,
neutrophils and very low amylase. As a child I had frequent "stomach
flues", was very skinny but not short and had a pot belly (I've had
liposuction twice since I never lost that "baby fat". I began to gain
weight at age 14 and was no longer so skinny. After I had my daughter I
quickly went down to a size 1 (I'm 5'8) but then 2 years later gained the
weight back again. Some years ago I began losing weight again but now have
gained it back. Symptoms: chronic diarrhea, fatigue, bloating after meals
(especially pasta/breads) leg pain (since childhood), lower back pain,
occasional nausea, dizziness, thinning hair.

Now my big question is - is it CD or recurring Tropical Sprue from when I
was a child in India (if that's what it was). Both have similar symptoms
but are treated differently. It is possible I was diagnosed with CD as a
child but my parents weren't the kind to make special considerations for me.
I have asked the last DR I saw to please order the antibody tests - I WANT
TO START THE DIET!! I really want to get better and the info this forum has
provided has given me much hope.

Any questions or info would be appreciated & THANK YOU!

Angie
