Becky D. asked about GF status of synthetic vanillin.
----------------

As a synthetic product it should be absolutely GF.
Synthetic vanillin (4-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde)
is a flavour used in pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and food
industry.

As a flavour for baking it is mixed with saccharose (sugar)
in concentration ca. 1 percent - this mixture is called
"Vanillin Sugar".

3-ethoxy derivative (ethylovanillin) has several times more
intensive flavour.

E. Merck Darmstadt, Germany produces vanillin in both
food and pharmaceutical grade. So you may ask them
(www.merck.de) for official opinion.

glad if helped a little
