I want to share the following response with the whole list:

"There are basically two disease entities 1) celiac disease (CD) and 2)
transient gluten intolerance. Patients with CD have small intestinal mucosa
when on a regular diet, which recovers upon gluten free diet and can be
triggered again by gluten challenge. Patients with transient gluten
intolerance will also have abnormal mucosa to begin with, which becomes
normal on gluten free diet. The difference of patients with CD from
transient gluten intolerance is that one cannot induce small mucosal changes
in patients with transient gluten intolerance upon gluten challenge as
compared to patients with CD. Another difference between these two disease
entities is that patients with CD are positive for serum antibodies such as
to endomysial, reticulin and gliadin.

I hope the above may help you. If you need further information, please let
us know.

Sincerely,

Vijay Kumar, Ph.D."
