Hi Everyone,

Vance asked if buckwheat was okay for Celiacs as someone was making malt from
buckwheat for beer.

Buckwheat is not related to wheat or grains at all. It is actually a fruit,
more related to rhubarb. It is a dicot like beans and peas. The only
problem comes from if you are allergic to it (not a gluten reaction) or it
you buy it from a contaminated source. I buy my buckwheat flour, groats and
cereal from Birkett Mills in NY 1-315-536-3311 as this is a noncontaminated
source. I love their Cream of Buckwheat cereal and buckwheat groats.

I received this information from Ann Whelan's Gluten Free Living Newsletter
which is an excellent, well referenced source for Celiacs.
