A professional baker in the New York area mentioned that one of his
suppliers is reporting Rye and Pumpernickel as being gluten-free. Since
this baker is aware or which grains are gluten-free, he asked that the
members of the List be warned.

Rye and Pumpernickel are not gluten-free flours.

Without written evidence of this false statement, it is hard to file a
formal complaint. Attempts will be made to inform this company of the
potential for physical damage they could do to unsuspecting celiacs. The
greatest danger exists for the newly diagnosed celiac or from well-meaning
relatives.

Additional details are not available, so please do not reply to the
List on this subject.
