In Michael Fries summary, he states that quinoa "is a cousin to wheat".

This is incorrect. Quinoa is *not* related to wheat. It is *not* a grain,
i.e. it is not a cereal grass and it is not related to grasses in any way.

Quinoa is a relative of spinach. Quinoa the seed of a dicot plant (having
paired seed leaves) a completely different class of flowering plant than the
true grains, which are all monocots.

He is correct that quinoa does not contain gluten. Some persons may be
sensitive or intolerant to quinoa, but it is not a celiac reaction.
