In response to Sandra's letter regarding dietitians and the 800 number she
gave for the RD Refferal Network. I too, agree with her, but have another
suggestion.

Why don't you contact a local support group, or one close by if there is one,
and ask if they have a dietitian on their advisery board. Our Louisville, KY
chapter has two RD's (non-celiac) working with our chapter. They attend all
our meetings and try to stay very tuned to our needs. If anyone in the
Louisville area needs a RD we would highly recommend one of these two, they
know what they are talking about.

Also, our chapter has started to give classes to the hospital dietitians. So
far, we have visited two hospitals, representing dietitians from five
hospitals, and held two hour seminars on how to properly feed a celian
patient. There are four of us who go to the hospital, two celiac members and
our two RD's, we explain the disease, how to feed a patient using the food
pyramid, and take a large collection of GF food that is available locally.
We also take baked samples for them to taste. They have been able to get
CEU's for attending this seminar.

We are visiting another hospital next month. Also next month we are going to
one of the colleges here to talk to their classes about the celiac diet. We
have been asked to come to another university in the state, not close by, in
the spring and talk to their class.

We are trying to spread the word!
