Spicy Pecans

1/2 cup sugar
3 Tbsp water
pinch. salt
1/2 tsp. cayenne (I use a little more)
2 cups pecans

Preheat oven to 350. Combine first 4 ingredients and stir until sugar dissolves. Boil 2 minutes, remove from fire and addpecans; stir until well coated. Usingslotted spoon, put pecans on oiled baking sheet.

Bake about 12 minutesand transfer to waxed paper – break apart when cooled

Spicy Pretzel Sticks

I used the same recipe but reduced the oven to 275 - I drained the pretzel sticks with tongs and put them on parchment paper (easier to remove plus cleanup). I baked them approximately 10 minutes (I tested one first). These were delicious and not expensive to make - would make a nice hostess gift. (I used Glutino pretzel sticks and a little less than 1/2 tsp cayenne) If you don't want it too spicy, reduce cayenne.
