I received responses from many long-time celiacs (the longest:  53 years),
and a few newly diagnosed folks.  Most agreed on how bad it used to be
compared with how good it is today.

Here are  more tidbits for your trip down memory lane.  Remember when:

- the doctor said "your test is slightly positive, stay on a low gluten
diet".

-the nearest Health Foods Store was 10 miles away and rice cakes (stale at
that!!) was all there was!!!

-a GF diet consisted of bananas and dry (wheat) toast

-GF foods weren't GF unless they were pureed

-processed foods labels contained ingredients that could be pronounced by a
first grader.
