Ive had the following symptoms chronicaly for the past 17 months:

Fatigue
Weight gain (could be due to my innability to exercise)
Muscle twitching
Muscle sorness
Inability to exercise (makes other symtptoms much worse)
Hair loss
Heart palpertaions
Chronic ear ache
Some loss of balance

I do not appear to have digestive problems at the present, although three years
ago I did have IBS for about 8 months.

Would an intolerence to Gluten cause the above symptoms? My Doctor sent me to a
infectious disease specialist 17 months ago (when the symptoms first became
chronic) after a few tests he told me I'd had a recent infection of EBV (which
causes mono) But he seems to ignore the fact that some of my symptoms started
at least 2 years before this, although they were not as severe or chronic. He
tells me I now have Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome, which is virtually untreatable,
incurable and can last for years.

I have recently read a study in the Lancet (feb 9, 1996) which suggests that plp
who have 'neurological problems of unknown cause' may have an allergy to Gluten.
In their study they found almost 60% of plp in this group had antibodies to
Gluten. Can anyone help me find out if this may be my problem? I have just
about given up hope of ever leading a normal life again.

Regards
Col
