STANFORD CELIAC CONFERENCE 2000

Educational Conference for Patients and Dieticians


Volunteers of the San Francisco Bay Area Celiac
Support Groups are organizing an all-day educational
conference for celiac patients and registered
dieticians.  The conference is sponsored by Stanford
Health Improvement Program, and is endorsed by Celiac
Disease Foundation (CDF) and Gluten Intolerance Group
of North America (GIG).

SPEAKERS:
Morning session with a focus on the "Medical Aspects
of Celiac Disease":
*  Gary M. Gray, M.D., Professor of Medicine, Emeritus
(Gastroenterology), Stanford University, California
*  Karoly Horvath, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor,
Pediatric Gastroenterologist, Co-Director, Center for
Celiac Research, University of Maryland, Baltimore,
Maryland

Afternoon session with a focus on "The Celiac Diet":
*  Cynthia Kupper, R.D., Gluten Intolerance Group,
Seattle, Washington
*  Bette Hagman, Author, Gluten-Free cookbooks,
Seattle, Washington

OTHER ATTRACTIONS:
*  Meet Elaine Monarch (CDF)
*  Meet Cynthia Kupper (GIG)
*  Gluten-free food vendors
*  Scott Adams:  learn about key Internet sites for
celiacs
*  Blood draw for celiac research will be ongoing all
day
*  Book signing with Bette Hagman
*  Raffle for gluten-free goodies
*  Program for celiac children during lunchtime
