Mary, I had several communications with Westbae about their soy milk about
a year ago because I wondered why I always got a reaction when I drank it.
They assured me it was gluten free and asked if I wanted them to send me a
list of their gluten free products. I said I'd really like to have that.
They sent me a list labeled very clearly, "wheat free." So after some phone
calls to two different people there I finally figured out that they did not
appear at that time to know the difference between "gluten free" and "wheat
free." Finally I found out that some of the brown rice syrup they list in
the ingredients originated with barley. That was where the reactions came
from. I can still tell when someone has made a mistake and puts Westsoy soy
milk in my latte instead of Pacific.

It is possible that they may have learned in the last year the difference
between gluten and wheat, and it's also possible that the Mets will win the
pennant. I'm always hopeful. Anyway, it's something to watch for.

BTW, it was difficult for me to admit publicly here that I drink lattes.
I'm so insecure in my masculinity that I always feel like a sissy when I
order it, so I have the clerk here on the island trained to fix my latte
when I belly up and order a "shot of redeye" :)
