Good morning all,

I have an infected salivery gland and the maxillofacial surgeon prescribedd
Amoxicillin 4X a day to treat it.  I told him that I have only taken
antiobiotics once before and that it was Cipro, with no problem.  He said
this would not work in this case and gave me the Amoxicillin.  I just spent a
night in hell with bloating belly, rock hard bowel movement, which (after two
enemas) still has not come out, and hideous pain to the point of almost going
to the hospital.  I've never been constipated and this is no picnic.  I can
barely stand and walk.

Three questions:
1.  Is Amoxicillin GF? (And, yes am I ever a moron for not asking the
pharmacist!!!)
2.  Is this a sometimes side effect of antibiotics, even those that are GF?
3. Can anyone recommend an antibiotic which they have used without suffering
like this?
