I would like to add to what Brenda posted concerning some older articles
on the subject of Tropical vs. non-tropical. I had also read she had
read in a British Gastroenterology textbook while I was living in
Pakistan. I don't know the name of the book but my gastroenterologist
in Pakistan told me that tropical will not respond to a gluten free diet
where as non-tropical does. I had at one point hoped maybe I had
tropical sprue but since I improved dramatically after the elimination
of gluten I realized that I had CS. There had been cases of Anglos
developing CS during the Raj and my doctor was familiar with this. I
also read it in another British textbook. Hope this helps.
