Dear List,

A few notes:

1. I spoke with Hillshire Farms today. Their Lean and Healthy 97% fat free
and totally fat free items are not GF, but their full fat hot dogs and
sausages are GF.

2. I bought a box of Kroger brand snack mix for my non-celiac daughter, and
was pleased to see on the ingredients: natural flavor(corn gluten, soy sauce,
wheat gluten, and something else). I was so pleased to actually see the
ingredients of this rather ambiguous ingredient. I called them to thank them
for spelling out so clearly their ingredients. Wouldn't it be great if this
was the beginning of a new exciting trend?

3. I have been reading all the talk about airline food. My celiac daughter
is almost 9, and has been GF for nearly 3 years. We have never had any
trouble with getting non-GF meals on any airline. (We did get a bag of sun-
chips once.) This has been primarily with Delta, but also with Continental
and United. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that my husband
is a frequent flyer with all the airlines, or if it is because we always order
3 or 4 meals (for all of us). Maybe it's easier when there's more than one.
Our last flight was last weekend, and it was one of those where you pick up a
sack lunch on the way in. They had our GF meals on board (rice cakes, turkey
breast and cheese, an apple and chips). The flight attendants didn't even
know they were there until I asked them to look, explaining that my husband
had arranged it all when he booked our flight. I hope this helps someone.

Just thought I'd share this information.
