Dear Listmates -

I have no financial interest in this, other than saving money.
Osteo-K is the MK4 form of K2 or Menatetrenone.

Another brand is Relentless Improvement, at
www.relentlessimprovement.com
Just type in K2 in the search box and click on the Go button.

The Relentless improvement brand is GF (I called and they said it was GF, and I have no reaction to it and am very sensitive), and is $20 less per month to take than the Osteo-K.

With Osteo-K, you take 6 capsules per day to get 45 mg per day, so the 180-capsule bottle is a 30-day supply. It is on sale for $65 plus shipping, I think.

With the Relentless Improvement MK4 form of K2, you take 3 capsules a day to get 45 mg per day, so the 90-day bottle is a 30-day supple. It is on sale for $45 plus shipping.

I like to save money. Also, a DEXA done 5/26/2009 at U of Chicago, Bone Density Clinic - Endocrinology clinic showed my lumbar density had finally stopped dropping and had started to increase, and hip density was improving.

That was done 6 months after a DEXA 11/2008 showed my lumbar had dropped, but hips increased slightly, which made no sense.

I had only been taking the K2 for 3 months before the 5/09 DEXA. I also was taking Genistein (Soy Isoflavones) and Ipriflavone, but research studies on the MK-4 form of K2 are more impressive than results of studies of women taking Genistein or Ipriflavone.

So for me, the K2 works. I also take high levels of vitamin D and take Tri-Boron plus (also high levels) for calcium, magenesium, etc., due to secondary hyperparathyroidism (meaning my body/skin does not make vitamin D anymore and without a lot of vitamin D I get elevated parathyroid hormone and lose bone, but no parathyroid tumors).

It is good to consider diet, also. Drinking a lot of soda is not good for bone density, since it can leach minerals and is acid (not good for reflux, acid, or GERD). Beans, lentils, carrots, tahini (sesame seed paste, which I love on GF toast with tomatoes and avocado and lemon juice), etc., contain calcium. Diets high in saturated fats (red meats,
etc.) can decrease absorption of needed nutrients.
