I know there was some talk some time back about Smarties. Well, I hadn't
read that when I wrote a letter to their company. (Somehow, I couldn't find
a web-page for them). Anyway, I thought I'd forward their response that
they sent via e-mail. I basically asked them if their Smarties Candy
Necklace was gluten-free and if they had a gluten-free list of their
candies.

Subject: Smarties

I am in receipt of and thank you for your letter regarding our product
ingredients, specifically gluten. Our product, Smarties, contains less than
16 parts per million of gluten. According to the FDA, such a small amount
is not necessary to be listed among our ingredients. However, if you are
not certain whether or not a trace amount of gluten would be harmful, we
strongly suggest you do not purchase our product.

Thank you for your interest and for taking the time to write.

Very truly yours,

Cathy Carbone
