Hi Paula,
Just as one body to another, why don't you do what makes you feel
comfortable, especially if you want a christmas to enjoy!! As you said
your next appt is Jan 17th, plenty of time in which to feel sick!! If you
decide to stayon gluten, switch to a less acidic gluten carrier - the
vingear will cause more upsets than say bread - either way please be
careful with what you eat, stick to foods that you know you can eat
don't try anything too unusual, like if you have never had soya milk,
some things can trigger a reaction. How is your weight? Have you lost
weight or are you flucuating with fluid levels? Some people don't ;ose
weight they feel as though they have gained, some like me lost too much
weight( I also suffered muscule loss especially in my legs).
In clarification of what I said about reactions, 4 lines ago, mean
allergic reaction not intolerance. Anyhow, why I asked about your weight,
without trying to be too personal, several of our suport group members
didn't lose weight, they flucuated with fluid levels, they had iron
levels on the low side but not too low and it was the blood test that
alerted the specialist and biopsy proved positive. I wonder whether it
had anything to do with how long the symptoms had been occuring and the
body's ability to stay healthy - maybe any added stress factors like
pregnancy/breastfeeding or life stresses may or may not be occurring to
deplete the body's resistance/immune system. In my case, I was weighing
in at 70-75kgs up until my pregnancy and then afterwards, in the space of
four months, I had dropped down to 59kgs. I went to a herbalist who
placed me on a Candida Diet which happened to be GF, in hindsight, and
then my health improved, I got preg again and repeated the same course of
events because i had gone off the CAndida Diet.
Im sure that you will get lots of other opinions as to stay GF or not,
but don't overload on gluten, just eat normally. If you have CD your body
may react enough to normal intake without stressing it more with an
overabundance. Either way take care and enjoy the holidays.
