Before I was diagnosed with celiac disease, when I was feeling generally
unwell I would eat a bagel or something similar for energy and to settle
my stomach. Of course I had no idea I was poisoning myself. But I started
getting these strange "attacks." I would get quite light headed,
disoriented. I could barely stand. I would also get quite warm. But I
would also shake so badly that I could barely take a drink of water.

Needless to say these "attacks" scared the living daylights out of me.
They are what finally sent me to a doctor. When my doctor heard the
symptoms he tried to send me to a neurologist. Luckily my doctor wanted
to check out other things first and after about a year, we found celiac
disease. I haven't had this type of attack since. Even when I accidentally
injest gluten. I think it was the high concentration of the gluten in
my body at that time. But these symptoms do sound similar to your. Maybe
they're fairly common.
