The discussions on acid sensitivity and yeast problems intrigue me...

Like Michael Lewis, I too first paid attention to my gut when I began
experiencing pain with coffee. Simultaneously I developed a rash on my
cheek that sounds like Pauline's chin and nose rash, as well as severe and
continuous bloating.

The severe bloating lessened considerably when I stopped eating wheat
(along with brain fuzziness and some hypoglycemia problems -- it will be
interesting to see if the creases in my thumbnails go away on my new GF
diet -- anyone else have this malabsorption manifestation?). But I also
reacted to a Candidiasis trial. I'm now being treated for Candidiasis with
the anti-fungal Nystatin, but it doesn't really seem to do much. Last month
I was on erythromycin for something else -- and voila! no more coffee pains
or rash or bloating! Now I'm off the antibiotic and the rash, coffee pain,
& mild bloating are all back.

I'm wondering now about the bacteria H. pylori that causes ulcers -- I
haven't seen any correlation to CD in the literature, but it is a bit new.
It seems logical to me that if your system gets out of whack with CD, H.
pylori could make some inroads. Has anyone tested positive for H. pylori?
(Apparently the breath test is the most accurate.) Any correlation?
