I'm out of work due to surgery so I'm spending my time trying to contact
companies. I'm on the hunt for GF molasses. I checked the archives and didn't
find any brands mentioned other than that in the CSA guide. I can't find the
LaChoy brand in my area, just Grandma's and Brer Rabbit. I called Grandma's
Friday and the rep couldn't tell me that it was or wasn't GF. She promised to
check into it and call me. I haven't heard from her yet. Today I attempted a
few times to contact the Brer Rabbit people. The last time I finally got
through to the number, with a voice message telling me to leave after the
beep. Unfortunately after the beep came another message telling me that the
voice mailbox was full. Egad!

I did reach the Steen's Syrup people and they told me that they could assure
me that the syrup is GF because it's made from (sugar) cane juice only. The
rep uses it in her own recipes in place of molasses. When I asked about that
product, she said that they add yeast to it. I found out that it's Red Star
brand yeast, so I presume it's GF. You can contact the company at
www.steensyrup.com

Happy baking,
