In the survey that alot of us participated in recently
I stated that traveling was not very difficult.

        I take it back. !!!!

The only real travel I have done in the past 2 or so years
has been to visit freinds (or family) who know of the problem
and help. The only exception to this was a trip to St. Louis
last year when my boyfriend INSISTED on taking nearly everything
with us..no not the kitchen sink. I now admit that if he hadn't
done this I might have been in serious trouble. Last weekend
we went to his class reunion. We left early on Friday and returned
late Sunday. I took a small shoulder cooler (liquids) and
1/2 a bag of tostitos. I told him if I saw another cooler I wouldn't
go. (we were so jammed in the car last year it wasn't funny)
We also visited his family and had portraits taken.
*Just in case someone isn't aware..small midwestern towns
do not generally have stores that carry GF food.*

I do not think I have ever been so hungry in my life!
I not only got a hold of food I couldn't eat..
Omlettes with weird cheese sauces, you get the picture.

But here's the highlight -- Supposedly the best restaurant
in town and I was actually served a breaded chicken thingy
when the menu said it was grilled.
*Grilled chicken stuffed with broccolli served over wild rice,
        sounds reasonably ok right?*
(I know I should have said something but there were a lot of people
at our table *old school freinds* & etc* who were talking and
it didn't seem appropriate to make a fuss, after all the stares
I think a fuss would have been better)
I ended up trying to get all the breading off the chicken, a
hopeless task I might add. Yes I did eat it..I hadn't really
eaten anything since thursday night at 4:30 pm...this was 6pm
        on Saturday.

Now to the point of this post. Thanks for bearing with me.

After this weekend (to which I have been reacting since early
sunday morning) I have decided that a survival pack of some sort
is a necessity. I am asking if anyone else has one put together,
and what you have put in it/what works well. Any and all
        suggestions are welcome.

This may help, I do not like to carry a lot with me when I travel.
I only took one shoulder bag with me for the whole weekend.
This is all I generally take for short trips (4-5 days)

I did but peanut butter on sunday afternoon on the way home.

My other decision is no more ms. nice person about what I get
