Hi All,
Sharon's post on this topic attracted my interest. When I read that the
doctor claimed that brain fog is not a symptom of celiac disease, I decided
to post directly to the list. I think that we need to understand, along with
those we consult regarding our health, that most celiacs experience some
degree of brain fog as the result of consuming gluten.

Christine Zioudrou and her colleagues discovered, during the late 1970's,
that partly digested gluten proteins behave like morphine if permitted
access to the bloodstream. Several other groups have replicated these
findings.

Celiacs, because of a gluten-induced leaky gut, absorb those opioid peptides
into their blood. This is likely a factor in why gluten has repeatedly been
shown to impact on brain function, behaviour, and on the immune system.

I can only assume that this doctor does not know about Zioudrou's discovery,
even though it was published 25 years ago.

Best Wishes,
