I am writing to report on today's conversation with the consumer
representative of Edward & Sons Trading Company, maker of the Rice Snaps
crackers. Ms. Kristie Werz spoke with the company president who wishes to
relay his concern for the two reactions I had after ingesting the Zesty
Parmesan Rice Snaps. They take their gluten-free status very seriously and
analyze their products on a random basis. Ms. Werz has asked me to send the
remainder of the package to the Carpenteria, CA address where the batch will
be analyzed and the batch number recorded for an investigation. (All celiacs
might note that it is a good idea to hold onto the remainder of a
potentially problem product if the product is labeled gluten free.)

Since the Rice Snap products are not supposed to contain gluten, they would
appreciate hearing from anyone else who has experienced any problems with
their products. (Ms. Kristie Werz: 516-673-9894)

I believe the company's concern to be genuine. When Ms. Werz asked how to
learn more about celiac disease (and how to get the shopping guides that CDF
makes for celiacs in LA), I offered to pass her address along to the Celiac
Disease Foundation. I think we should encourage the manufacturers of the
products we buy to support our organizations.

Safe eating,

Mary Courtney
