It is unfortunate that some of the list participants are involved with
e-mail providers that charge for each item. I believe that this will
become more of a problem for them as the list grows and the number of
posts increases.

Fortunately, I am involved with a provider that charges one fee with
unlimited access; but there are still many messages of different types
that I find of little interest. So, I skip those posts. I take a few
minutes each day - and I believe I am a busy person - to go through my
e-mail. It takes me, maybe 10 minutes to skim through - read and discard
what doesn't interest or apply to me.

I am much happier reading a quote then I am some of the misinformation
that has left me feeling confused and depressed. Since most of us are
not medical professionals - what kind of information are we supposed to
be posting? I think that as the list grows it will become more
interactive as people get to know each other. This is an important
source of support for people who find little elsewhere!

Everyone raves about the book "Against the Grain." Why do some many
people find this book such an asset? I recently read it and I found that
I knew most of the medical/factual information already; but I found the
author's feelings and humor was the most appealing aspect of the book,
because I have shared many of those same feelings but could not verbalize
it as well as she did. So it helped me to get in touch with my feelings
and realize that they are relatively normal.

I think that the list will become far less interesting and useful if we
discourage people from expressing their feelings - through quotes,
experiences, questions, etc. What people get out this list is very
subjective and would be quite difficult to monitor. It would unfair to
the list owners to expect such a thing. I will be disappointed in the
list if it becomes strictly factual - that would certainly cut out a big
percentage of the posts since MOST of us are not qualified to be
dispensing medical facts!
