Thank you for all of the replies re: our question about a teen doing a gluten challenge (& it is going very well--almost no symptoms!)

We received replies from 30 different people.

Some said there is no reason to do a gluten challenge & suggested stopping, others said to continue and do the testing. (this was about 30% stop, & 70% continue)

Some people said a gluten challenge should take 3 weeks, other said over 6 months.

Almost everyone said teens usually go through a "honeymoon phase" or show no symptoms, but they warned that damage is still probably being done.

Many said to look for other symptoms (not just digestive) like skin problems, headaches, anemia, & depression.

We were warned that it still might be hard to get results because it takes the body a while to build up antibodies or show damage. Enterolab was mentioned several times (as a recommended testing service)

It was also recommended that we go back throught the archives and search for this topic (a big "thank you" to the person who sent copies!) We will learn how to do that!

  Thanks again, everyone!
