I thought I was asymptomatic as well. I had no outward signs. I wasn't
too thin, constantly sick etc, a little anemic over the years but it could
be taken care of, never a real problem. Then I had a bone mineral density
test. The numbers were not good. I couldn't figure out why. Local Drs.
couldn't help so I went to Mayo Clinic.

They found that although I didn't seem to have the ususal outward symptoms
I had malabsorption and that meant a severe vitamin loss that caused the
osteomalisia or soft bones (rickets in children).

I was low in calcium, vitamin d and iron. My alkaline phosatase was very
high and so was my parathyroid. The Dr. told me my body was screaming for
calcium.

I've been on the diet for 3 months and I do feel better. I have a lot more
energy because the iron is finally staying in my system and because I
showed no symptoms to begin with, I feel almost great!

My vitamin counts are going up according to my last blood tests and
hopefully if everything follows in the usual way I may not even have a
severe bone loss in a few months.

So what I'm saying is you may not "feel it" but you are being torn down
from the inside out. That means you will feel the results of this someday
unless you take steps to prevent it. So be thankful of the warnings signs
that got you to this point. At least you have the means at your disposal
to heal and repair some if not all of the damage.

Good luck,

SG
