Dear Mr. Kelly;
As someone who almost died from undiagnosed Celiac Disease (yes, it is a
real medical condition) I was very disturbed by your article in the
Washington Post of Monday, March 5, 2012. Those of us who are gluten intolerant
have a life threatening condition if we consume gluten. One of our major
struggles is to get family, friends, food service people and the general public
 to take our condition seriously. It does not help when people of
influence, such as you, make jokes about the fact that we cannot follow a normal
(eat anything that you want) diet. Would you call the diabetic who works
hard to stay healthy by eating healthy a hypochondriac? If not, then why us?
 If so you are sicker than we are. There are many responsible people, in
and out of the medical profession, who are working hard to promote
understanding of Celiac Disease. If you cannot do anything to support this just
cause please do not do anything to harm it.
