Dear Listmates,

My daughter, Allison was diagnosed over 7 years ago as a result of her decline in her growth rate.
She was biopsy diagnosed and has been on a GF diet ever since.

  Here is my dilemna..........

Allison started on about the 50% for her height and weight before CD and then fell to the 20%. That is how we discovered she had Celiac Disease. We thought after going on a GF diet and healing had taken place that she would catch up on her growth as most celiac children do. However, her growth rate has continued to drop slowly ever since. She has never caught up on her weight and height, and now is well below the 5% line on both her height and weight. She is 12-1/2 years old, 53" tall and weighs 65 lbs.

We have had her tested for EVERYTHING. She does not have Growth Hormone Deficiency. She does not have any other Gastro type illnesses. We have been to every specialist and had all of the tests done. She is absolutely normal in every other way.

We are now back to the Endocrinologist and he is thinking of putting her on growth hormone therapy. It is his opinion that Allison has Idiopathic Short Stature.
Meaning, short stature with no know cause.

So, here is my question to all of you......

Are there ANY other children who have had this same experience that have celiac disease. There is a possibility that for some reason, Allison cannot utilize the growth hormone that she is producing. I am wondering if there is some connection to the celiac disease?

If you have had any of these same experiences, I would love to hear from you.
We are very frustrated and worried about our daughter's growth.

Thanks for any input you can give us,
