Has anyone had celiac reactions to dental composites? Or are their any
dentists out there who have worked with celiac patients and are familiar with
which products do and don't contain gluten?

Reason being, I have been bedridden since my last doctor's visit over a week
ago. I went to an amalgam removal specialist, had my one mercury filling
removed, as a piece of it had fallen out a year ago, and a composite put in.

I'm reacting to the composite. I'm having celiac symptoms that I've not had in
well over 15 years. Severe cramping, bloating, excessive bowel movements,
chronic fatigue, and I've not been able to eat without symptoms worsening.
Overnight I'm a sick patient. I haven't been able to go to work.

I've called the various companies of the materials my dentist claims he used
(though he confused some with others), and I can't get information from a
few, or the information I do get is limited. These companies are a lot more
difficult than cosmetic companies at disclosing anything.

So much for safeguarding one's own health.

I know that dental glass ionomer used in composite bonding, does have gluten,
or at least this recent patent has it from a large company:

glass ionomizer - says GLUTEN in it

Again, gluten.

Even if say the prophy paste in the cleaning had gluten (and if he in fact used
Dentsply NUPRO, it shouldn't have gluten according to the company), there's
no way I'd be reacting a week later. It just doesn't take my body over a week
to recover from one incident.

If anyone has any information on this, please do not hesitate to email me.

Thanks so much,

Andrea
