Lots of people felt that diet had a lot to do with the pain in my knee: One person said that medicine is stop-gap and doesn't solve the problem. They suggested I give up dairy and soy. A few people said that their joint pain didn't go away until they completely gave up dairy products. A suggestion was made to eat more protein and try the protein powder at GNC. One person drinks Cherry juice concentrate they get from the refrigerated section in the health food section of the grocery store. They dilute 2 tablespoons with 7 ounces water and drink it each day. Eating a serving or two of bing cherries can also give the same relief. - It was suggested that I try to eat a wholefoods diet & eat 60% raw 40% cooked foods (steamed or baked preferrably). It was also suggested to avoid sugar, chocolate, and charred foods (such as those found on barbequed meats as they all promote inflammation and pain), and to drink lots of water.

Many said that exercise was very important such as sitting in chair and lifting leg up and down at the knee. - I was told that a physical therapist recommends that anyone with painful joints should work to rebuild the muscles around the joint to keep the joint stable and working well. - Exercise with weights or on weight machines for knee exercises was suggested. - Walking is helpful and a massage therapist was recommended. She recommended a tui na specialist and said it had done wonders for her.

Supplements were suggested by several people: - A rheumatologist put someone on a bioflavinoid called Limbrel which is gluten free from Switzerland that worked wonders. You need a prescription. The rheumatologist also has her taking 100mg CoQ10, 50,000 units beta carotene, Vit C with rose hips, and 1500 mg glucosamine sulfate. She says they have worked miracles and there is no longer any joint pain. - There was a suggestion to check the arthritis website for joint supplments. - A student in natural medicine uses Zyflammend by New Chapter and Vitalzyme (systemic enzymes) to help reduce inflammation naturally and help to repair/rebuild the joints. It is made from herbs and others said they used it also. She also takes Pure Essence Labs Master Multiple vitamins & Energy Plus and also takes extra Vit. D3 daily (2000 IU in the summer and 6000 IU in the winter), and Magnesium plus Calcium by Dr. Peter Gilliam. For a joint helper she uses a good quality fish oil like the one from Garden of Life. - One person said that they had joint pain for a year and a half after diagnosis. They found that they were deficient in iron, B12, and D, and they have improved some since taking those supplements. - Another found that vitamin D really helped her.
