Hello all,
I posted awile ago asking about what constitued a 'typical' (if there is
such a thing) gluten induced attack of celiac. I think I have it nailed
down now for myself at least and would like some input. I went to a party
last night and ate
a small amount of roast beef and 2 leaves of salad that had some kind of
creamy dressing on it. I can't believe I was so careless and suddenly
realised what I was eating, at least as far as the salad dressing. I also
suspect now that the roast was seasoned. ok, so we all make silly
mistakes once in awhile, onto the result. I don't think I have ever felt
this sick before and the further along I get on the diet the more
dramatic the symptoms. I woke up today and was nauseated, migraine,
diarrhea, stomach cramps, fuzzy headed (more than usual with my migraines
from other sources), and worst of all dizzy which is something I almost
never have had in my life. I actually thought of heading up to the ER. I
was shaking so badly that I couldn't imagine even getting to the car
never mind driving myself to ER. Needless to say I couldn't eat all day.
This is the third time in the past few weeks when I have had some degree
of this type of reaction and later found out that I had eaten gluten.
This episode was just plain stupid on my part but I would be interested
to hear from anyone else who has experienced something like this. It is
really quite scarey. I seem to recall a recent post where someone had a
relative who ended up feeling pretty serious after a gluten attack.
I know this will go on for a day or two more and then subside. That seems
to be the pattern at least for myself. It would be nice to post replies
to the group I think as this might be helpful to others to know when they
have eaten hidden gluten but I will be pleased to hear from anyone who
prefers to post privately.
Thanks guys, sorry, verbose as usual,
and yes, I feel really stupid today,
sigh,
Lisa P
