Suffering from the summer blahs? Need to get a jolt of energy? Join us
at Covenant Presbyterian Church at noon this Saturday, 17 August, for a
tempting variety of delicious gluten-free dishes and a great time
sharing your celiac experiences and questions with our local gluten-free
gang.

We provide an informal, friendly atmosphere where all can have a good
time and enjoy that rare experience for those with gluten intolerance --
a carefree occasion where you don't have to worry about "Where's the
hidden gluten?" There is one danger, though, you will be tempted to try
everything on our loaded buffet. We usually just give in and try a
little of everything, rationalizing that it's worth forgetting to count
our calories just this once!

Along with your gluten-free salad, entree, vegetable, bread, or dessert,
please bring a list of the ingredients to place by your dish or plate.
Some members have other sensitivities or allergies and who better than
we can understand their need to check for ingredients other than gluten
that they have to avoid.

As you know, we have a Recipe page in our monthly newsletter, the Alamo
Celiac, and we invite you to share your recipe with all our members. We
can't use recipes straight from cookbooks (the publishers would have a
fit!), but if you have made at least 3 changes to modify the recipe for
celiac use, it may be printed as your recipe. Just bring a copy of the
recipe to the pot luck and give it to me, or even simpler, e-mail it to me.

Our summer pot luck lunch will be held in the kitchen/dining area at our
usual meeting place, Covenant Presbyterian Church, 211 Roleto Drive
(just past Northwest Military Highway on the IH 410 West access road) in
San Antonio.

If you are not a member of our support group but would like to join,
contact our Membership Chair, Anne Barfield, [log in to unmask],
for information.
