In response to my original post I received the following reply.

"Pam contains canola oil and is not gf"

My response to that was:

> > Canola is rape seed (Brassica napus) and does not contain gluten.
> > It was given the name canola by the Canadian producers when the seed and
> > the oil did not sell well under the name of 'rape seed'.
> > Like any other safe food it can be contaminated.

Then I got:

> Jessie Canadian Celiac assoc put out a warning some time ago, perhaps you
> missed it that canol was grouwn in fallow wheat fields and contaminated
> from seedlings.
>
> Ann

Please note that myself and others on the list have some concerns about the
information circulated by the Cdn Celiac Association. Remember that they
are the source for the assurance that grain alcohol, scotch, rye, gin, etc.
are gluten free.

Some canola crops may follow wheat, but not all of them. Many farmers now
grow canola as a main crop.

I restate "Canola itself is gf, any safe food may be contaminated."
