   Checking the label on Eckrich brand smoked sausage and kielbasa at the
grocery store today, I was startled to see this ingredient:  ...,starch
(modified food, potato),...

   WOW!  Maybe we are finally having an impact on some manufacturers'
labeling procedures.  There were still flavorings and msg on the list, so it
may not be gluten free, but I was just excited to actually see the starch
specified.  The company's toll free number is 1-800-ECKRICH and their hours
are 8-4:30 CT M-F for anyone who wants to check for themselves.
