Recently someone had posted that the frappuccinos were no longer gluten free.  I decided to check with Starbucks directly.  Their website does not list the ingredients for these items.  I know from past experience that Starbucks is very evasive when it comes to answering questions about gluten free.  They are very careful about what they put in writing.  It is always a generic response about not being able to say gluten free due to cross contamination, or they say if you think you may react to a product not to buy it, something along those lines.  The below response took me four emails to them.  I only inquired about two of the flavors since those are the only ones my kids like.  If my kids did not like them so much (as a treat from time to time), I would not even bother with this company.  See response below:

Please accept my apologies for this long chain of responses that did not answer your direct question. I will be more than happy to provide the requested ingredient information for these beverages. The Frappuccinos are made of four or five components altogether. Three of these components being ice, milk and some Frappuccinos have whipped cream. I will list the other two (main) components ingredients for these Frappuccinos for you.

 

Mocha Frappuccino:

Coffee Frappuccino Syrup: Sugar, Water, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Xanthan Gum (E415), Preservative: Potassium Sorbate (E202), Citric Acid (E330), Caramel Color (E150)

 

Mocha Powder: SUGAR, COCOA (PROCESSED WITH ALKALI), VANILLIN (AN ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR).

(includes Whipped Cream)

 

Caramel Frappuccino:

Coffee Frappuccino Syrup: Sugar, Water, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Xanthan Gum (E415), Preservative: Potassium Sorbate (E202), Citric Acid (E330), Caramel Color (E150)

 

Caramel Syrup: Sugar, Water, Natural and Artifical Flavour, Preservative: Potassium Sorbate (E202), Citric Acid (E330), Colour: Caramel (E150d)

Light Coffee Frappuccino Syrup (Canada version): Water, Sugar, Natural Flavours, Salt, Carrageenan (E407), Xanthan Gun (E415), Maltodextrin, Preservative: Potassium Sorbate (E202), Citric Acid (E330), Sucralose (E955), Colour: Caramel (E150d, E150b).

 

Mocha Powder: SUGAR, COCOA (PROCESSED WITH ALKALI), VANILLIN (AN ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR).

 

Caramel Frappuccino Light:

Sugar Free Caramel Syrup: Water, Natural and Artificial Flavour, Cellulose Gum (E466), Citric Acid (E330), Sucralose (E955), Preservative: Sodium Benzoate (E211), Colour: Caramel (E150d)
