Hi all,

This is the second part of my summary. I wanted to dedicate one whole
message to the subject of Global Blends CoffeeHouse in Mountain View CA. I
found info on the internet that said they had gluten free goodies
including sandwiches. This was a perfect stoppiing point for us to exit
from the highway to have lunch on our way from the San Francisco airport
to Carmel/Monterey.
We found it easily. It is a small coffee shop with pastries and a few
sandwiches at lunch time. They serve both regular and gf products.

I had the Gluten Free chicken pesto paninni and hy husband had the
'regular' of the same. I could see the guy cutting what looked like a
thick gf pizza crust in half and loading it up with the chicken, cheese,
etc... It was quite tasty and served with apple slices. I had an iced
coffee as my beverage.
A few minutes after finishing, I new something was not settling right with
me. We got back on the highway, but about 45 minutes later had to make
an emergency exit to a McDonalds where I spent 30min or so dealing with
bouts of the big "D"!! My first thought was that they had switched our
sandwiches, but I don't think so.
I was extremely disapointed that a cafe that has specifically Gluten Free
products glutened me!
And it was the only time for the whole week of vaction that I was
glutened!

I know there must be regular customers of this coffee shop who dine there
successfully.... and I don't want to start a boycott or anything!
I guess the takehome message is that we have to be vigilant anywhere. I
did not ask too many questions, because I just trusted them to serve me
gluten free food. Sometimes it can be mentally exhausting and I welcomed
the chance to relax upon ordering food!

Thanks for reading my rant!

Pam
