Hi All--

Joanne was kind enough to correct my statement that
5-htp was a precursor to Sam-e. The following is what
Joanne wrote:

"5-htp is a precursor to serotonin.  It is dangerous
to combine 5-htp with an SSRI unless under the
direction of a doctor who is VERY knowledgeable about
both."

My previous post giving 5-htp as an alternative to
prescription drugs was directed at those who were "so
inclined to avoid prescription drugs for depression."

Thanks, Joanne, for correcting my error and providing
the appropriate warning to those already taking
antidepressants.
