First I would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who took time and
energy to answer my request on chicken broth. I collected the data for other
interested. I am overwhelmed by such generosity !

1.Health Valley makes a GF broth, it's very good, too. usually found in
health food stores, or in the "natural" section of a regular grocery (at
least in North Carolina, US!)

2. Chicken OXO (only the packets) are gluten free and work great.

3. I am a Watkins Marketing Rep and use their chicken soup and gravy base.
It is a powder that you just add water to. The chicken broth has no added
MSG and no gluten ingredients. I also use their beef, tomato, vegetable and
cream soup bases. The cream soup base is particularly excellent for making
scalloped potatoes. The address is Watkins Inc. Winnipeg Man. R3T 4C7

4. I'm not sure if Trader Joe's exist in Canada. They are based in Pasadena,
California, but they make a very good chicken broth. They also make a
vegetable broth that I use in place of beef broth in recipes (because I
can't find a beef broth that either doen't have MSG or carmel color.) In
fact Trader Joe's have a large variety of Gluten-free foods.

5. Nutrimax Soup Mix is gluten-free and comes in various flavors, including
chicken. Manufacturer: Nutrimax Foods P.O. Box 16, Pickering Postal Station,
Pickering, Ontario, L1V 2R2

6. If Swanson Low Salt is available in Canada, give it a try. We use for
many things, sometimes as you, in cooking rice or pasta.

7. I use Glutino Soup Base to cook my rice. I have used the Chicken and the
Beef, both very good. And best yet for you, they are Canadian. The company
is De-Ro-Ma in Quebec, Canada. Internet: http://www.cosmo2000.ca/deroma

Glutino beef broth soup mix: Malto dextrin (corn syrup solids), salt,
hydrolysed plant protein (from soya and corn sources), dextrose,
hydrogenated vegetable oil, monosodium glutamate, yeast extract, silicon
dioxide, onion powder, caramel, beef extract, disodium inosinate and
guanylate, dehydrated lemon juice, citric acid, seasonings (gluten
free).
Glutino chicken broth soup mix: Malto-dextrin (corn syrup solids), salt,
corn flour, corn starch, chicken fat, dextrose, dehydrated chicken meat,
spices (gluten free), guar gum, yeast extract, seasonings, parsley,
sugar.

8. I use Massel brand Chicken Style EasyStock cubes. They have a web site,
but it is presently down. http://www.massel.com.au
It is made in Australia.

9. We have two sources of broth here. I've used the ones from El Peto many
times. They've also got a lot of other bases besides chicken and their bases
and products are gluten free, dairy free, just about everything free. You
could give them a try. Another place is in Alberta. Its called Kinnikinnick.

10. Receipe : When you buy chicken, save the little packets that come inside
the chicken. Save the wings.
too and put in a plastic bag and throw in the freezer. Also save gravey and
goodies left in the pan. If you cook a whole chicken, after serving, save
the bones. when you get a bad full, place in a big pot and cover with
water. Add a carrot and onion, some herbs (no salt) and cook away for an
hour or two. Strain out the solids. Then cook down to half. then add salt
to taste. You can chill the broth after you strain to solidify the fat for
easly removal. I do this every so often and store the broth in one or two
cup measures in plastic bags in the freezer. Sometimes I'll buy chicken
wings for the
pot for extra flavor. I use it for my split pea soup, gravy, etc. It cooks
itself and tastes so much better than store bought.
