I did receive only one restaurant name - Sacoma - which unfortunately did not
get to.

Some listers sent the general common sense advise, and many requested a
response, as they too will be in SF in the near future.  As to the lister
offering the guide for $20 no thanks.  Sorry you could not be bothered to
mention a few favorites but rather chose to capitalize on the request.  The
restaurants we ate at did not seem to be familiar with Celiac but most tried
to be helpful.

I can only share my experience.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn at the Wharf and the accomodations and the
breakfast were great.  I took my own bread and stuck to eggs and fresh fruit.

Several stops at the wharf for the shrimp and crab worked out fine.  (Do you
think the day will ever come for Clam Chowder in Sourdough bowl that's GF !!!)

One dinner was at McCormicks & Kutello's at Ghiradelli Square.  One word
-YULCK-, while the grilled sea bass and veggies were safe they were awful.
The non-celiac diners were equallly disappointed.   It was expensive, I would
not go back and would not recommend it to anyone.

Allito's was difficult to say the least, when I tried to explain and show the
card she kept saying - "well what do you want to eat?"  I tired to explain I
would be willing to eat whatever they were willing to prepare that would be
safe.  She just didn't get it, or did not want to and became snotty.  I
settled on shrimp cocktail, where I proceeded to learn that in the Midwest our
shrimp cocktail is SF's prawn cocktail.

Fishermans Grotto was very accomodating.  I had grilled shrimp, mushrooms,
veggies, in butter with parmesean chesse on white rice.

My personal favortie was Neptunes Palace on Pier 39.  Great view, great food,
great service.  The chef had the waiter come back to make sure that rice was
ok, since oat and barley were not.  The chef made recomendations and they were
great both times.

On side trips to wine country, and Gilroy - the garlic capital of the world, I
did carry my lunch and sip wine and ate garlic potato chips !

A quick thanks to all of you for your help and support,  it sure makes life
easier knowing  we're all in this together.
