Hi Everyone,

One of my support group members suggested that we send Progresso emails and let them know how much we appreciate their yummy GLUTEN FREE creamy mushroom soup.

I know that it has made my life easier by being able to use a canned mushroom soup in casseroles, etc. rather than have to make my own from scratch. I had been making it from scratch for the past five years until I found out that Progresso was gluten free and soooo good!

Maybe if we send our appreciation, they will make sure that it remains gluten free and add some other gluten free soups to their selection.

Last week, when I spoke to Progresso on the phone, the rep gave me some incorrect information. I then emailed them and my inquiry and their response is found below. Based on their response and the ingredients label on the Chicken and Wild Rice Soup, it is GF as well. Just remember to read the labels as the ingredients could change.

Happy GF Eating!

Dear Ms. Hicks:

Thank you for contacting Progresso regarding gluten in Progresso products.

It is our primary goal to help our consumers determine whether or not they
can include our products in their diet. To accurately accomplish this, we
believe it is best to refer to the specific ingredients listed on each
product package.

However, we do understand that ingredients can be confusing, so we want to
assure you if the ingredient label does not list wheat, barley, rye, oats or
other sources of gluten, then the product would be gluten-free. Sources of
gluten are listed on the label even if the source of gluten is part of
another ingredient (such as flavoring or spice). Because ingredients may
vary from one package to another due to product reformulation, you should
use the product's ingredient label to provide you with current and accurate
information.

Additional information regarding gluten may be obtained by contacting your
health care professional or:

We hope this information is helpful.

>Product: Chicken & Wild Rice Soup. My husband has celiac disease and must
avoid gluten from wheat, rye and barley. We have been using your Creamy
Mushroom Soup since I discovered it was gluten free and we LOVE IT!!!!! I had
recently been told by another celiac that the Chicken & Wild Rice Soup was
also GF. I called Progresso last week to verify that info as we are very
cautious. The customer service rep told me that if the can just said modified
food starch and did not spell out if it came from corn or wheat, then it was
because you DID NOT KNOW which was used and it would not be safe to consume.
It was my understanding that in theUnited States, if something was labeled
modified food starch, that it was always from corn. Please confirm whether
the Chicken & Wild Rice soup is indeed gluten free or not. Also, if there are
any other soups that are gluten free, please advise.Thank you for your help
in clarifying this info and for your wonderful Creamy Mushroom Soup.
