Hi Everyone,

We just traveled thru Denver airport and had done research prior to our trip and found a list of
restaurants on the concourses that offered gluten free options. We figured that we had the food
problem covered. Not so!

We traveled thru Concourse A both times and found it to be lacking in gluten free options.
We checked the entire food court area and found an apple, a banana, and a small fruit cup.
The nice gentleman at KFC Express tried to convince us that the new Tender Roast chicken was
GF so we could have the salad with chicken on it. Lucky for us that I had my netbook with me and
I was able to check and find out that it contained wheat. I did go back and explain to him that he
should be very careful before he told someone that something was gluten free when he really
didn’t know. I was nice but firm in the hopes that someone else wouldn’t be told the same thing.

Even McDonalds didn’t serve milkshakes and their menu was limited. It would not be our first choice,
but at least there are a few things there that can fill a hungry tummy.

On our return trip, I thought I would be smart and we packed a jar of peanut butter and some GF
crackers with some trail mix and some corn chips. When we went thru security, the nice person
that checked our bags insisted that peanut butter is a liquid and we were over the limit so she was
going to throw it away. Luckily her supervisor intervened and explained to her that if it was for
medical reasons, we could take it after it was checked (which she promptly did by running some kind
of wand around the jar). Not sure what that showed, but we were able to take our peanut butter
with us.

So, if you are traveling thru Denver, please carry your own food or be prepared to starve!

Happy GF traveling!

Barbara in SW Missouri
