Hello Listmates,

Yesterday I posted an alert on this list about a peanut we found in a
bag of Trader Joe's Plantain Chips. Today my daughter realized that
during a party she had over the weekend it was possible that a peanut
from the bowl of mixed nuts may have ended up in the bowl of plantain
chips and then into the bag when she was cleaning up. This makes
perfect sense, and is the most likely explanation so I am taking back
my warning about the Trader Joe's Plantain Chips. I am very sorry
for any trouble I may have caused by posting so quickly yesterday.
As for Trader Joe's, they were very responsive. The manager of the
local store contacted their headquarters right away to start an
investigation into it. Someone from their corporate headquarters
called me today -- and that's when my daughter realized that the
cross-contamination probably occurred right here at home. They had
already started investigating it. Sooo....I feel really stupid
about this, but with peanut allergies I really think it's better to
be safe than sorry.
